The BWMS Technical Seminar, which was met in the 10th of January in Suntec City Convention Centre, concluded with the attendance of approximately 100 participants from different businesses sections including shipowners, ship managers, classes, administration and associations.
The seminar focused on Ballast Water Management, in particular on its compliance monitoring processes and on Ballast Water Treatment Systems’ retrofit installation onboard ships.
The opening plenary was dedicated to the latest development on the USCG as presented by Lt. Jessica Ward, followed by the discussion on the necessity of a BWM plan, especially now that the BWMC has been ratified and its implementation is closer than ever.
The seminar was organized alongside Pamarine and Chelsea Technologies Group Ltd. in an effort to assist the participants to familiarize with the systems and prepare for the BWTS Ratification.
Mr. K. Stampedakis, Managing Director & Director of Research, Development and Engineering Dpt. of ERMA FIRST S.A., shared his insights, to the BWTS installation, with a detailed presentation and analysis of numerous actual case studies, including the retrofit installation of BWTS inside the engine rooms of a Bulk Carrier, Container Vessel and LPG.
The attendees then enjoyed mingling during the networking breaks, when they were able to muse over information they had gleaned from our experts.
